What if you understood God to be more gracious and forgiving than you had ever dreamed and at the same time discovered that He was more demanding than you had ever imagined?
What could be more gracious than God forgiving (declaring righteous or justifying) someone who hasn't asked for forgiveness e.g. your covenant child in his baptism?
What could be more demanding than your eternal destiny being dependent on your actions in life? (see 2 Corinthians 5:10)
The "kicker" is having been sold a "bill-of-goods" that says, "Perfect obedience to God's law merits eternal life." The implication is that no one can please God or keep His commandments because no one can do so perfectly. What better plan could be devised by the enemy of our souls than to find a way to excuse the lack of active obedience on our part? The Bible refers to many people as being blameless, obedient, righteous, etc. See the forthcoming post on "The Teleology of Original Grace".
This blog with appropriate scripture proofs was inspired by dissatisfaction in the ability of traditional creeds and confessions to answer objections and hard questions posed by real life and lack of opportunity for meaningful discussion in the church. It is also dedicated, to the exploration of an alternative approach to the scriptures other than that put forth by covenant of works/covenant of grace thinking.
The quest by this writer commenced over twenty years ago when baptism was denied to his little son. The
study began with baptism as understood by Baptists. This led to a study of family solidarity that led to
Covenant theology. There was a necessary change in church affiliation from Reformed Baptist to Reformed to Presbyterian to Independent Reformed. The issue centered on the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper for most of that time (infant baptism and infant communion.)

This sounds good, but I'm not sure what it means. Could you elaborate a little bit?
